Hotel Catalina Location & Directions

If you are driving or walking  going south through Jaco, go past Pops ice cream, Mas x Menos and the Cruz Roja and once you get to a y in the road curve to the left and go over the bridge. Then turn Right in front of the the Municipality building, there is also a BCR (Banco Costa Rica) ATM here. You will pass a church and  come to a bridge. In another 600 meters you pass a second smaller bridge. The first street past the bridge is Calle Mora, pass Hotel South Beach and you will reach  Calle Hidalgo. Turn right onto Calle Hidalgo (there’s a sign for Cabinas Stefano on the corner) you will also pass La Paloma Blanca and you’ll end up at the beach where you can only turn left. Continue along this dirt road about 400 meters further south and you will find yourself in front of the Hotel Catalina (Apartotel Catalina), right on the beach – Look for the iron gates and pool in front!

If you pass the first 4 entrances into Jaco from the highway, then you’ll turn right on the 5th and final entrance into Jaco, just past the gas station(Arroyo Gas Station). Then take your first right (where there is a Soda – aka restaurant – , good local food & good prices as well), then your first left onto Calle Hidalgo, you will have passed Hotel Kangaroo and Cabinas Stefano is on the corner of Calle Hidalgo. Once you are on Calle Hidalgo continue until you get to the beach where you will have to turn left onto a dirt road alongside the beach, you will have passed La Paloma Blanca as well. Continue heading south until you get to Hotel Catalina (Apartotel Catalina), right on the beach with the fancy gate! Welcome Home!

From San Jose, buses leave roughly every 2 hours from La Coca Cola bus terminal.  The bus lets off in front of the Mas X Menos Supermarket in the middle of Jaco, you can get a taxi (for less then $3) here or walk for about 15 – 20 minutes to get to Hotel Catalina . You may want to stop and buy some goodies to fill your refrigerator at the Catalina while you are at Mas x Menos.  After you exit the bus, head south (direction from which the bus came through town) through town. The road curves to the left and you will cross a bridge. Turn Right in front of the the Municipality building which also has a BCR ATM. You will pass a church and come to a bridge. In another 600 meters you pass a second smaller bridge. The first street past the bridge is Calle Mora,  then the Hotel South Beach, then Calle Hildago. Turn right (there’s a sign for Cabinas Stefano on the corner) and you’ll end up at the beach where you can only turn left. 400 meters more and you are in front of the Hotel Catalina, right on the beach past Hotel 9.
